Terms of Service

Last updated 9 October 2026

These terms cover scottlapaglia.com and the services on its subdomains — currently Meal Prepper, at meals.scottlapaglia.com and recipe.scottlapaglia.com. I'm Scott LaPaglia; I build and run them as personal projects, by myself, at no charge. Using them means you're fine with what follows.

1. What this is

A hobby project, offered free and as a courtesy. It is not a commercial product, there is no subscription, no support commitment, and no service level of any kind. Treat it accordingly.

Nothing in Meal Prepper is nutritional, dietary, medical, or food-safety advice. Shelf-life estimates, use-by dates, and pantry warnings are rough guesses from generic data, not a judgement about the actual food in your actual kitchen. Use your own eyes, nose, and sense — and a real source for anything that matters, such as an allergy.

2. Access is by invitation

Meal Prepper has no public sign-up. It requires Google sign-in and your email address must be on an allowlist I maintain by hand. I can add or remove an address at any time, for any reason, including simply reclaiming capacity on a small server. Don't attempt to reach it any other way.

3. Your account

Your account is yours — don't share it. Session tokens are credentials: if you put one into a phone shortcut or a script, that's the same as writing down a password, so keep it to yourself and sign out to invalidate it if it gets loose. Tell me if you think someone else has access.

4. Acceptable use

Don't:

Security research is welcome if you tell me about it first and don't go after anyone else's data — see Security in the privacy policy.

5. Your content

What you save stays yours. I claim no ownership of your recipes, plans, lists, pantry records, or receipt photos. I'll only access them where it's actually needed to operate or debug the service, honour a request from you, or comply with the law. You're responsible for having the right to upload whatever you upload.

6. Recipes from other sites

Importing copies a recipe from somebody else's page into your own private library. That content belongs to its publisher, and the import keeps a link back to the source. It's for your personal use: republishing it, or redistributing someone else's recipes out of the service, is between you and the copyright holder, and I'm not responsible for what any source page contains or for how accurate it is.

7. Availability, and the data behind it

The service runs on a single small server and gets deployed whenever I merge a change. It can be down, slow, or mid-upgrade without notice. Features can change or be removed. I may stop running it altogether — if I plan to, I'll try to give you warning and a way to get your data out, but I'm not promising a window.

Two things worth saying plainly. First, Meal Prepper is still in development, and the planner's data currently lives in your browser rather than on the server, so clearing site data or switching devices loses it; that's described in the privacy policy. Second, I take nightly backups of the server database, but a backup is not a guarantee: keep your own copy of anything you'd be upset to lose.

8. No warranty

The services are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied — including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. I don't warrant that they'll be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that imported recipes, extracted receipt lines, or derived grocery lists and dates will be accurate or complete.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, I'm not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages, or for lost data, lost profits, spoiled food, or a wasted shopping trip, arising from your use of the services. Since you pay nothing for them, my total liability for any claim is limited to nothing — which is also the total amount you've paid.

Some jurisdictions don't allow certain exclusions, so if one of these limits can't apply to you, it is limited to the minimum the law permits and the rest of these terms still stands.

10. Ending it

You can stop at any time: sign out, and ask me to delete your account. I can suspend or end your access at any time, with or without notice, particularly for anything in Acceptable use or where it's needed to protect the service or someone else. Sections 5, 8, and 9 survive.

11. Changes to these terms

I may update these terms; the date at the top will move when I do, and continuing to use the services after that means you accept the new version. For a material change I'll make it obvious here rather than quietly.
